Second suspect arrested in David Ortiz shooting

A second suspect has been arrested over the shooting of former Red Sox slugger David Ortiz in the Dominican Republic, authorities confirmed.

The suspect, who was not yet named, was in custody by Tuesday night, according to Julieta Tejeda, a spokeswoman for the national prosecutor’s office on the island.

No other details were offered — and it was not clear if the suspect was the trigger man.

News of the arrest came after Eddy Vladimir Féliz Garcia — who was badly beaten by onlookers after Sunday’s attack — was charged with “attempted homicide” and “criminal association” in connection to the shooting at the Dial Bar and Lounge.

Big Papi is still recovering in intensive care at Massachusetts General Hospital after being flown to Boston Monday night, where he took his first steps after a successful second surgery.
