Woj bombs can drop NBA players’ jaws to the floor, too.
When news broke Thursday night of the blockbuster trade moving Russell Westbrook to the Rockets for Chris Paul and first-round picks to the Thunder, the shock wasn’t reserved for fans alone.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted the first details of the trade at 8:26 p.m. ET Thursday night, continuing a wild NBA offseason that resembles a game of musical chairs. It didn’t take long for players across the league to share their reaction on Twitter.
“WOW!!” Enes Kanter said, speaking for everyone, while quote-tweeting Wojnarowski.
“Craziest NBA summer by far…And Summer just started a few [weeks] ago!! WOW…” veteran Jamal Crawford wrote.
“the league has been going crazy 😱 wow !!” rookie Ja Morant added.
“This league boi!!!!” Bradley Beal tweeted.
Westbrook’s new teammates — and Paul’s new ex-teammates — had varied reactions, from a succinct eye emoji from Eric Gordon to not hiding their excitement.
“What it dooooo brodieee ! 🤘🏾🤘🏾🚀🚀 @russwest44” Clint Capela tweeted.
Almost two hours later, Capela added a goodbye to Paul.
One of Paul’s closest friends, Dwyane Wade, also took a thoughtful approach to the news.
“Well Damn,” Wade originally tweeted with a thinking emoji.
“I got so much to say of course on this CP3 trade but I’ll save my comments until I talk to my brother,” he added, this time with a face palm emoji.
In Wade’s final season before retiring this year, he swapped jerseys with plenty of players. After the tumultuous offseason, many of those jerseys are now relics.
“All i know is my jersey swap collection is looking kinda bootleg since FA started 😂😂😂,” Wade tweeted. “In 20 years ain’t no one believing those players played in those uniforms❤️”
While the music may not be done just yet — Paul to the Heat to team up with Jimmy Butler, anyone? — one thing is certain ahead of the 2019-20 season.
