Wait until Todd Gurley finds out about MLB.
The Rams running back has been watching as NBA players get new contracts and is left wondering where all that money is for NFL stars like himself.
“It’s crazy,” Gurley told Bleacher Report. “I led the league in touchdowns the last two years and I just seen somebody get $80 million and I couldn’t even pronounce their name.”
Last July, Gurley signed a four-year, $60 million extension, which included $45 million guaranteed — the largest guarantee and per-year salary for anybody at his position.
Still, it pales in comparison to the money NBA players are getting, beyond just the top-tier studs. Bleacher Report host Adam Lefkoe brought up Tobias Harris, who recently signed a five-year, $180 million contract with the 76ers.
“Tobias Harris was the first guy I seen, I was like, ‘Hold on, who is this?’” Gurley said. “I started looking at his game, I’m like, ‘Actually, he’s all right.’ He got [$64 million] the last time but then he just re-upped.
“Hey, I ain’t mad at them, man. They’re doing their thing. All I know is if I was in high school right now, and I was 6-5, I’d be in the gym every day.”
Meanwhile, the four-year, $60 million deal Gurley signed last year? The same contract landed the Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson in 2013.
