Liverpool fans revel in Joe Gomez incident with Raheem Sterling at Anfield against Manchester City
Gomez, 6ft 2in, towered over his 5ft 7in opponent and gave him a shove in the chest, prompting Sterling to come back at him and square up.
The dispute arose from a challenge on Gomez that he felt had been reckless from Sterling. They went toe-to-toe afterwards and Dejan Lovren helped pull the winger away.

The crowd particularly enjoyed the incident with their centre-back having the better of the exchange and plenty took to social media, noting the sheer size difference between the pair.
One wrote: ‘Sterling squaring up to Gomez was like Frodo squaring up to Gandalf.’
Another posted: ‘Sterling tossed aside like he’s nothing haha he didn’t want it with Joe Gomez.’
Sterling is still persona non grata at Anfield after forcing an exit from the club to join City back in 2015.

Jurgen Klopp had decided to bring on an extra defensive body to help see out Liverpool’s 3-1 win at Anfield.
Sterling was one of City’s standout players and repeatedly caused problems for Trent Alexander-Arnold down the left flank, though his effectiveness was nullified to some extent by Gomez.
The England team-mates managed to put the animosity behind them immediately after the final whistle.
The cameras captured them embracing at full-time following the frenetic game which saw the Reds move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League, nine ahead of City.
No doubt the pair will joke about the clash in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the forthcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Montenegro and Kosovo.
